"Oh, dear little dogs from the Land of Snows,
How proudly your great lion-hearts show..."
....Pema Sarah Cash

Breeding and the study of the old lines of Lhasa Apsos is my interest. I do not personally show my dogs, although there are a number of them being shown by others and they are doing very well indeed.
I breed Lhasa Apso of the 'old style' to preserve the original
Lhasa Apso and to save it from extinction.
At last we have achieved our goal - having parted now with TWO Lhasa Apsos back to the Tibetan (Lamas) people!
THE NAME: Lhasa was the capitol of Tibet and "apso"
means 'bearded one', so when asked what their dogs were, the Tibetans
replied "Lhasa Apso" - "bearded one from Lhasa"!
FREEDOM FOR TIBET NOW!
I have created this to show you the journey the Tibetans and their dogs made out
of Lhasa, the capitol of Tibet, into safety in India and Nepal (after the illegal, brutal
Chinese invasion of 1959) where the Tibetans now live in exile, hoping one day to return to their own country. The Himalayan Mountains are the highest in the world
- there is no life there and this is the terrain these people and their beloved
dogs travelled... A distance of over 3,000 kms at altitudes of over 20,000 feet!

If you look at the small map of Asia on the top left hand corner you can see
what a large country Tibet is and the main map shows you the surrounding
countries: China, Mongolia to the north, Burma, Bhutan, Nepal, India and a
few more tiny ones.
The Lhasa Apso is a strong, sturdy little dog from Tibet... So don't be fooled by the beautiful flowing coat! They are
a highly intelligent, loyal guard dog and often called "a
big dog in a small form" and yet gentle, fun loving and sweet
natured.
Our dogs are our "family" and live inside with us, coming and going outside as they please. All puppies are reared in the home and we do not breed more than twice a year.
All our
dogs fit the Australian Standard of 10" for a male and female
slightly smaller. Showing dogs is a hobby or a sport which requires expertise in its own field, whereas breeding
is a dedicated study and takes a huge amount of effort
and care for both mother and pups. Lhasa Apsos are "people
dogs" and should not be kennelled or left out in a backyard
- they must be part of the family.
Lhasa Apsos are highly intelligent, train easily and are eager
to please - they are soft-hearted, warm, loving, cuddly, loyal
and so much more! Our Lhasas Apsos are loved
and fun members of our life who spend their life inside with us
or romping and playing in the garden. Puppies are always
born and reared inside our home to ensure healthy, loved, happy,
socialised puppies and a well-cared for mother.
Meet some of my Lhasa Apsos in their "homely" and fun
aspects! There are many beautiful websites with Lhasa
Apsos in their flowing glorious coat, but since many owners do
not keep their dogs in long coat, I would like to introduce you
to the clipped, fun loving, Lhasa Apsos as well. Here you will find some in half or clipped coat as well as full coat. However,
all our dogs have excellent, easy to care for coats as it is vital
to the happiness of both owner and dog.
Our puppies go to the best homes all over
Australia and the world, provided I know the new owners!
*Due to a pysical disability, I
cannot show my dogs personally, but there are now a number of them in the show ring in Australia and overseas. Anyone who uses this disability against me,
be it verbal or in writing must answer accordingly under the
Disability Discrimination Act.
This website is about
loving and caring well for your Lhasa Apsos.
