NEXT LITTERS DUE AROUND MARCH, 2009

All puppies are immunized, wormed, registered with the Victorian Canine Council, vet checked and come with their vet card and a Diet Sheet. Follow up advice is always available.

*When choosing a puppy do not listen to breeders who run other breeders or showers down, by word or innuendo.

*Do not buy a puppy simply because it has a string of Champions in its lines or because they have a lot of show dogs - this does not reflect the health or temperament of your puppy.

*Make sure you have a good rapport with the breeder and that they are willing to answer your questions.

*Do not be overawed by a beautifully groomed dog, look carefully at how it responds to the breeder and what sort of relationship they have with their dogs.

*Your puppy will be TINY and totally dependent upon you - your breeder should tell you how to handle the puppy, train it, feed it and so on.

*Good breeders do not accept a "cash in hand" attitude and sell their puppies off to the first person who comes along, which is why they SHOULD ask you to book your puppy and get to know you well! This also enables the breeder to know what sort of temperament you need in a puppy for your personal situation. Remember that a good Breeder will be around their puppies and handling them from birth and will get to know each one's temperament much better than you can in a few hours in the breeder's home. If they do NOT know their puppy's personalities, they are not good breeders!

*DO NOT expect a good breeder to allow you to go to their home and "see all their dogs" when they have a pregnant female! A good breeder should be more concerned about the security and feelings of the pregnant female at this stage.

*GOOD BREEDERS CANNOT allow people in to see their puppies until they are covered for Parvo Virus - around 7 weeks of age. Parvo can be carried on shoes, clothing or hands and no good breeder would allow any contact with their litter until they have had their first shots.

*The breeder will ask you questions and want to know about you.

*The Breeder should be breeding to meet the STANDARD set down for a Lhasa Apso and should be able to explain this to you - whether it is for pet or show.

*Good Breeders will be sure of each mating and will know there are no health or temperament problems in their lines.

SOME PREVIOUS TUSHITA PUPPIES!

PUPPIES AT 6 WEEKS OF AGE

Our puppies enjoy a wonderful reputation by all those who own them and will continue to do so, but never at the expense of our beloved dogs!  We place LOVE AND CARE above all else to ensure that puppies will be healthy, of good temperament and well socialised from birth!   All puppies are born and reared inside the home -
our dogs are not kenneled and are part of our family.

The mothers are fed the best quality and variety of raw foods with no additives, colourings or toxins, along with all supplements needed for a healthy mother and puppies! The life expectancy and health of both mother and puppies are of prime importance to us, as a pup's health depends on how well the mother was treated during her pregnancy and throughout her life.

Tushita puppies only go to responsible, caring people only.

The variety of colours that come from our dogs is fascinating

Here are some of the girls running and playing at 7 months of age!

If you want a Lhasa Apsos puppy, there is no need to worry if you have other pets, provided of course that your other pets are not going to harm or attack a puppy!  Lhasa Apsos tend to include all living and non-living things as part of their job to look after and care for, consequently I have many puppies who have gone to wonderful homes where there are cats, dogs, children of all ages (who are responsible and not allowed to mishandle a puppy!) and even the very elderly who live by themselves!  Your Lhasa puppy will adopt and adore everything.
**BUT THEY ARE PUPPIES WHEN YOU RECEIVE THEM AND NEED YOUR PROTECTION AND CARE! TRAIN THE FAMILY WELL IN HOW TO TREAT A PUPPY WITH RESPECT.**

I have included this old photo to show how well Lhasa Apsos, be they adult or pup, include 'everyone' and 'everything' as part of their 'family'.  As you can see, the Lhasas felt it was their job to look after our baby St. Bernard!  In answer to a lot of queries, we do not breed St. Bernards, but have owned them and Bernese Mountain dogs as pets over the years as well as Burmese cats.

There is nothing more that I could ask for than to see all my puppies in excellent homes, bringing happiness to their new owners and being treated beautifully.
